Hello, and thank you for visiting.
I am a global macro strategist, researcher, and public commentator focused on financial markets, economic regimes, geopolitical dynamics, and long-term structural change.
For more than 16 years, my work has centred on interpreting global economic and market developments for investors, institutions, media audiences, and decision-makers. My career has combined professional roles in financial markets with independent research, strategic commentary, and extensive public engagement on economics, markets, policy, and international affairs.
I have worked through some of the defining events of modern financial history, including the Global Financial Crisis, the European Sovereign Debt Crisis, Brexit, the global pandemic, and other periods of major economic, political, and market disruption. These experiences have shaped my approach to strategy: looking beyond immediate market noise to identify the deeper forces, narratives, incentives, and institutional dynamics that drive change over time.
My academic background reflects the same multidisciplinary orientation. I hold a Master of Business Administration, MBA, from the University of Oxford, a Master’s degree in International Political Economy from King’s College London, Master’s degree in Financial Management, and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Together, these fields inform the way I understand markets: not only as financial systems, but as human, institutional, political, and behavioural systems.
My work sits at the intersection of global macro strategy, financial markets, international political economy, geopolitics, behavioural science, and strategic foresight. I am particularly interested in how economic narratives, policy decisions, institutional behaviour, incentives, and long-term structural forces interact to shape the environment in which investors, businesses, governments, and societies operate.
As the founder of Valdivieso & Co., I bring this perspective into an independent platform for global macro research, strategic analysis, and financial insight. The project reflects a commitment to clarity, independence, disciplined judgement, and the interpretation of complexity beyond the immediate movements of the market cycle.
A significant part of my career has also been dedicated to public financial commentary. Over the past 16 years, I have made more than 300 media appearances in Chile, providing perspective on macroeconomic trends, financial markets, policy decisions, geopolitical developments, and global events. I have also been invited to international forums and events in New York, Davos, Doha, and other global centres, giving me continued exposure to global conversations on markets, policy, geopolitics, and long-term change.
Today, my work is focused on independent research, strategic insight, writing, speaking, and advisory projects that help individuals, institutions, and decision-makers think more clearly about markets, uncertainty, and long-term global change.
